Snuff – Terry Pratchett

A Sam Vimes novel. Discworld is good, the Watch and Sam Vimes are better. This one is OK. Sam is forced to take a holiday on the family estate in the country. He is soon involved in the local scene uncovering murder and organised crime. A new lifeform on the Disc is introduced, trolls. This is a patchy novel. Some parts of it flowed well and the plot raced along and I just wanted to get to the next part, unputdownable. Then there were other parts where it seemed to skim over what had happened and I had to re-read it to check that I hadn’t missed something. Usually I hadn’t, so there are odd bits of the book where the plot is extremely thin. Not one of the best, probably not one I will read again.
