My Autobiography – Dickie Bird

I like Dickie Bird. He was an excellent umpire. This is his story and it’s written in such a way that you can imagine it’s actually him speaking the words. That doesn’t make it a good book though. It’s entertaining in parts, though towards the latter chapters my interest flagged markedly. I think there must be a template for sportsmen’s autobiographies, this one follows the pattern closely. More stats on his playing career would have been of value.
